Why your weight doesn’t matter
Wait, so does that mean your bodyweight does not matter at all?
Let’s start with the basics – Bodyweight is the body’s total mass (that’s those numbers on the weighing scale). On the other hand, “body composition” is what your weight is made of (the muscles, bones, water and fat in your body).
Now, an ideal fitness goal would be to lose fat and maintain or gain muscle mass. This can be achieved by following a calorie deficit, consuming a nutrient-dense and protein rich diet, doing strength training, taking enough rest, and staying hydrated!
But if you’re following your diet & workout plan consistently but still not seeing any difference on the weighing scale, just take a deep breath and think about the other ways of measuring your progress
1. Feel good inside out?
2. Clothes fit better?
3. See a change in your body measurements?
4. Feel more energetic?
5. Can you lift objects around you more easily?
If your answer to all (or even some) of these questions is YES, then congratulations! You are making progress.
Bottom line: It’s good to check your weight occasionally. Just remember that your body weight is not the only indicator of your progress.
Focus on fat loss and muscle gain more than weight loss and keep going. Your hard work will pay off for sure!
